Products: Sheet Molding Compound Resins and Low Profile/Low Shrink Additives   

The Interplastic Molding Products Division is an acknowledged sheet molding specialist in a wide range of industries. We have experience with virtually every part specification and molding variable imaginable. From compound formulation, to mold and process analysis, to test runs, we offer you access to our talented technical teams and give you sheet molding solutions that surpass your expectations. Our mixing operation is the largest in the US, with lot capacities up to 40,000 pounds.

The Molding Products Division manufactures low density sheet molding compounds to Tier I automotive plants to help make parts lighter. They also supply structural high glass content SMC for very high heat and impact strength parts. Valve covers, heat shields, truck fairings, hoods, bumper beams, headlamp housings, sun shades, Class A panels, step assists, sporting goods equipment, sanitary ware, satellite dishes, marine engine and hatch covers are all appropriate applications for our SMC.

Resins
The Thermoset Resins Division supplies Silmar® and CoREZYN® resins for sheet molding and bulk molding compound applications. It supplies sheet molding resins to the Molding Products Division and to other SMC manufacturers to support a broad range of applications such as automotive spoilers, cowls, radiator supports, valve covers and lift gates. In the construction industry, common uses are outlet housings, plumbing fixtures, insulators, and molded sinks. Microwave dishware and appliance parts are manufactured for the house wares industry.

Colorants
The Thermoset Resins Division's Gel Coat and Colorant group manufactures the C Series polyester-based colorants. They are made with the highest quality pigments formulated for use with polyester resin systems. These smooth pigment pastes quickly blend and distribute evenly when stirred into the liquid resin. Opacity is obtained at various colorant levels, depending on the part's thickness and color. All CoREZYN brand standard colorants are formulated without heavy metal pigments for use in SMC applications.
