CoREZYN® Resins

Corrosion Resistant Vinyl Ester Resins

Open Molding ThixotropicOpen Molding Thixotropic

High Performance CORVE8110 Series

This extremely tough thixotropic line of vinyl esters is specially formulated for spray-up and hand lay-up requirements. These resins are designed to be easily worked and minimize drain-off, making them ideal for large vertical applications like boat hulls and swimming pool walls. These resins come in a few different viscosities and gel times.

Low HAP, MACT Compliant CORVE8121 LH Series

A line of promoted, thixotropic vinyl ester resins with excellent physical properties, along with fast hardness development for spray-up and hand lay-up applications for the boat and pool manufacturing industries.

The series contains a maximum of 35% styrene (HAP) by weight, which meets the EPA 40 CFR Part 63 requirements of the National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAP) for boat manufacturing. These products also meet the current VOC requirements of California SCAQMD Rule 1162 for "High Strength Resin".

These low HAP, 100% vinyl ester thermoset resins are promoted, thixotropic, and feature excellent physical properties. They also have fast Barcol development, which is very convenient for the spray-up and hand lay-up techniques used in boat, pool and spa manufacturing. Peak exotherm can be reached in as little as 15 minutes; gel times for the series range from 15 to 40 minutes.

The vinyl ester used in the low HAP series is part of the same resin formula evaluated in the Interplastic Corporation 15-year immersion study. Laboratory analysis concluded that after 15 years of immersion in water at ambient temperatures, laminate panels constructed with 100% CoREZYN vinyl ester resin or a vinyl ester skin coat showed no signs of blistering. The CoREZYN vinyl ester resin created a barrier impervious to water and therefore prevented osmotic blistering. An additional year of study concluded that these same panels retained their original physical properties as well. Flexural strength, flexural modulus and Izod impact strength were measured. As a boat, pool or spa manufacturer, this resin series is a welcome tool in the struggle to meet environmental regulations while retaining the integrity of the laminate's strength and durability.

High Heat Distortion CORVE8150 Series

The thixotropic CORVE8150 laminating series is intended for mold and tool making applications, as well as for composites where a higher heat distortion point (270°F/132°C) and high modulus are required.
